EMS steht für Elektro-Muskel-Stimulation. Das Gerät sendet elektrische Impulse an die Muskulatur, wodurch diese sich zusammenzieht – ähnlich wie bei einem normalen Training. So wird der Muskel aktiviert, auch ohne aktive Bewegung.
Ja, EMS ist grundsätzlich sicher, wenn es korrekt angewendet wird. Das Gerät ist CE-zertifiziert und für den Heimgebrauch oder therapeutischen Einsatz zugelassen. Menschen mit Herzschrittmachern, Epilepsie oder schweren Herz-Kreislauf-Erkrankungen sollten EMS nicht verwenden.
Für sichtbare Ergebnisse empfiehlt sich EMS-Training 2–3 Mal pro Woche für 20–25 Minuten. Eine Überbeanspruchung sollte vermieden werden, um Übermüdung der Muskulatur zu verhindern.
